Schools, colleges and nurseries can all get involved and organise a collection point. We can provide posters and shopping lists. Once you have collected a few items you can bring them over the warehouse in Brierley Hill and see where the donations go and how they are used.

At work; get permission to have a collecting box, offer to bring the donations to us or one of our centres listed on the locations page.

Employee/Corporate Volunteering

We love having corporate volunteers helping us at the warehouse in Brierley Hill. Over the last few years we have had lots of organisations helping us out for the day including The Tipton and Coseley Building Society, TSB, Lloyds Bank, YBS, Costa Coffee, Virgin Media to name but a few!

We always have positive feedback from the employees who take part in our volunteering days. The tasks involve dating the stock, sorting through donations and stacking shelves. If we have the time (and we will try and make time) we take the group along to one our Distribution Centres to see first-hand how the donations travel through the system and arrive at a centre ready to go in a food and toiletry parcel.

Our volunteering days are free but please consider donating food and toiletries or offering a financial gift. It takes us time and effort to make sure that our volunteering days run smoothly and we appreciate your support to keep the charity running.

Here are a few comments from some of the team members:

Ed from AF Blakemore told us that, "through volunteering with us for a day he learnt and understood how Foodbanks operated and gained an appreciation of community led initiatives".

Linda from INTU Merry Hill said that she, "realised how much hard work and time is given by so many people".

If you are part of an organisation who would like to give some time to volunteering please get in touch admin@blackcountryfoodbank.org.uk .We hold our corporate volunteering days from the middle of September to the end of January (work permitting). We can take groups of 5 or less due to space.

There are  plenty of ways to support BCFB, i.e. donations of food and toiletries, fundraising events, etc .  We have ideas and resources on our website if this is something you may want to get involved with (www.blackcountryfoodbank.org.uk/support/fundraising-ideas).
