Black Country Foodbank is looking for volunteers.
We’re getting busier every day and we need more help.
Could this be YOU?
The storehouse, our central storage facility, is in need of more volunteers. Some of our precious volunteers have gone on to find paid work and there are shifts where Kelvin could really do with another pair of hands.
Based at our ‘secret’ location near Halesowen (we have our own parking; no car park fees), the days and hours are; Mon – Fri 09:30 – 15:00ish and for these tasks we ask for a minimum of a 2hour stint.
If you can do your own shopping: YOU can volunteer at the storehouse!
The kettle’s always whistling and there’s a great team atmosphere. We don’t often get to see the people we actually feed at the storehouse but you’ll get to meet many members of the community as they come in with donations. You’ll also get to meet and chat with the frontline agency workers, who are picking-up goods for those they’re helping, that can’t get to distribution centre.
It’s from the storehouse that all the deliveries go out in the vans to our distribution centres across the region, so there’ll be opportunities to go out with Jeremy & Kelvin and meet volunteers at other locations.
No two days are the same, so there’s no reason to get bored.
We also, from March 2012, are in need of 2 or 3 volunteers specifically for a Monday afternoon (13:30 – 15:30) to pick orders for clients who can’t get to our other distribution centres.
Interested? Call Kelvin on 0121 448 8184 or use our contact form and they’ll arrange a time for you to visit and have a look before you decide.
Are you experienced in admin?
Our Wendy is sorely in need of a special volunteer to take on some of the admin her role creates so that she can get on with ‘other stuff’, as she calls it. You would be based at the storehouse near Halesowen and some of the duties would include: managing meeting appointments / diary, letter writing, preparing paperwork for meetings etc.
We also need general admin volunteers to print and collate information packs, create our vouchers, input data and do the dreaded filing. You’ll need basic IT knowledge; we use Windows 7 and some Vista along with the regular MSOffice package but don’t panic as we’ve trained people before who’ve said, “I can’t use a computer”.
The coffee pot is always on and the admin team are a really friendly bunch. Again these roles are based at the storehouse, but don’t worry buses run nearby or we have our own parking, Mon – Fri 9:30 – 2:30ish so it fits around the ‘school-run’ and if you’re trying to get back to work; what a great way to brush-up your skills and get some real office experience.
