Christmas is the time of year when we see so much generosity and kindness - we are thankful to the wonderful people, community groups, faith groups and businesses who want to support their local community in times of need.

Christmas Resources

If you would like to arrange a collection of food and toiletry items this Christmas, it would be much appreciated.

Please use our Christmas 2025 Shopping List and our Reverse Advent Calendar resources that can be downloaded and shared far and wide.

Donations can be taken to one of our collection points - if it is a large collection or you are unable to drop it off yourself, give us a call on 01384 671250 and we can look to arrange to pick it up.

Together we can support those in need across the Black Country, by building a sense of community and strengthening generosity over Christmas.

What is a Reverse Advent Calendar

A Reverse Advent Calendar is a wonderful alternative to the traditional Advent calendar. Instead of receiving a small gift or treat each day leading up to Christmas, participants in a Reverse Advent Calendar gather items to donate to those in need. Everyone can take part, in your workplace, school, community group, faith group or as a family on the run up to Christmas.

Here’s how you can create and participate in a Reverse Advent Calendar:

  • Choose a container
    • Select a box, basket, or another container to hold your collected items.
  • Create a calendar
    • Determine the number of days you want your reverse Advent calendar to run. Traditionally, Advent calendars have 24 days, but you can adapt it as you wish. If you're starting late, don't worry; the main idea is to contribute what you can. If you don’t complete it then don’t worry, every donation counts!
  • Collect items
    • Each day, add a non-perishable food item and/or toiletry item to your container.
  • Spread the word
    • Share your Reverse Advent Calendar journey on social media or within your community. Encourage others to join you in the effort, either by creating their own calendars or contributing to yours.
  • Deliver the donations
    • Once your Advent calendar is complete, you can drop the donations to our central warehouse or one of our foodbanks - make sure to check the opening hours before you make the journey on our website.

To ensure we can distribute all of the amazing donations and Christmas treats, we ask that festive items such as mince pies, puddings and selection boxes can be donated to us with plenty of time to allow us to distribute them out via our foodbanks, to ensure that everyone receives the items in time for Christmas - we just ask that they don't contain any alcohol please.

If you would like more information, or would like to arrange collection of a large donation, then please call 01384 671250 or email admin@blackcountryfoodbank.org.uk.

Please note, the warehouse in Brierley Hill will close at 1pm on Tuesday 23rd December and re-open at 9am on Monday 5th January.

Please see our locations page to find out the opening times of our foodbanks over Christmas.

Thank you everyone for the support - Merry Christmas 🎄
